What’s it about
Includes your COMPLIMENTARY COLLECTABLE DURRELLS POSTCARD! A warm, funny, feel-good series chronicling the many adventures based on naturalist Gerald Durrell’s trilogy of novels. The Durrells in Corfu sees impoverished widow Louisa Durrell (Keeley Hawes, MI-5) make the radical decision to leave 1930s England to seek out a new destiny for her family before she and her children go completely off the rails. When Louisa relocates her reluctant brood to a dilapidated house in the Greek sun, the Durrells face a whole new set of challenges as they meet new friends, rivals, lovers – and animals. In Season 2, follow the further exploits of the eccentric Durrell family as they embrace life on the gorgeous Greek island and continue to put down roots. Doing their best to settle into the community, they undertake what they must to navigate life and earn enough money. Then, in Season 3, a visit from Aunt Hermione shows that the formerly formidable matriarch has found romance and embraced the laid-back Greek attitude. Leslie’s also enjoying a much-improved love life with three very different girls. But there’s no safety in numbers when his mother and siblings decide to interfere. Margo has (temporarily) given up on love and found a new vocation, while Gerry’s obsession with animals continues to grow. As for Louisa, a trip to the UK with Larry reminds her of the restrictions of her old life. This program includes bonus features and offers subtitles in English (SDH). As seen on public television.
Mark my words, THIS IS A MUST OWN MASTERPIECE TV SERIES. A Masterpiece that’s gotten even better each season. It’s 5-star entertainment. It has drama, love, snorting humor, blissful sets, and a storyline that is worthy of being a Masterpiece series. I strongly recommend buying seasons one through three, and watching them in order. I’ve been with this show from the start and have seen the depth of the characters develop to the extraordinary proportions presented in this third season. Characters are quirky and memorable. Antics are all over the place. Scenery is droolingly divine. The company has blended into a unit as was the case with Downton Abbey. Even the maid shows her personality. Durrells in Corfu is simply fun, fun, fun viewing.
